With a budget of 4 billion US dollars, the 72 km project will involve new ports to be constructed and will run parallel to the original canal. Mohab Memesh, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority said, “It is expected to provide more than one-million job opportunities and would turn Egypt into an international industrial, mercantile and logistic center" .
